 Author: Megan Miranda
Goodreads Rating: 3.73
 Pages: 262
 Format: ARC

Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

For fans of best-sellers like Before I Fall and If I Stay, this is a fascinating and heart-rending story about love and friendship and the fine line between life and death.

Fury and Resentment visit her abusive home. They’ve all given up on Elizabeth because she doesn’t succumb to their touch. All, that is, except beautiful Fear, who sometimes torments her and other times plays her compassionate savior. Antigoddess

Author: Kendare Blake
Goodreads Rating: 3.74
Pages: 333
Format: ARC from BEA13

The Goddess War begins in Antigoddess, the first installment of the new series by acclaimed author of Anna Dressed in Blood, Kendare Blake. Old Gods never die…
Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.
Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.
These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.
Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.
Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.
The Goddess War is about to begin.

The Madman's Daughter

Author: Megan Shepherd
Goodreads Rating: 3.72
Pages: 432
Format: ARC borrowed from Friend

In the darkest places, even love is deadly.
Sixteen-year-old Juliet Moreau has built a life for herself in London—working as a maid, attending church on Sundays, and trying not to think about the scandal that ruined her life. After all, no one ever proved the rumors about her father's gruesome experiments. But when she learns he is alive and continuing his work on a remote tropical island, she is determined to find out if the accusations are true.
Accompanied by her father's handsome young assistant, Montgomery, and an enigmatic castaway, Edward—both of whom she is deeply drawn to—Juliet travels to the island, only to discover the depths of her father's madness: He has experimented on animals so that they resemble, speak, and behave as humans. And worse, one of the creatures has turned violent and is killing the island's inhabitants. Torn between horror and scientific curiosity, Juliet knows she must end her father's dangerous experiments and escape her jungle prison before it's too late. Yet as the island falls into chaos, she discovers the extent of her father's genius—and madness—in her own blood.
Inspired by H. G. Wells's classic The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Madman's Daughter is a dark and breathless Gothic thriller about the secrets we'll do anything to know and the truths we'll go to any lengths to protect.

Afterparty Book Blitz

I'm so most of you have already heard about Ann Stampler's Afterparty. What's that? You haven't heard about it?! Well, it looks like you're in the right place regardless of if you know know the book or don't, I'm hear to tell you all about it and even get to know Ann a little better as well!

Emma is tired of being good. Always the dutiful daughter to an overprotective father, she is the antithesis of her mother -- whose name her dad won't even say out loud. That's why meeting Siobhan is the best thing that ever happened to her...and the most dangerous. Because Siobhan is fun and alluring and experienced and lives on the edge. In other words, she's everything Emma is not.
And it may be more than Emma can handle.
Because as intoxicating as her secret life may be, when Emma begins to make her own decisions, Siobhan starts to unravel. It's more than just Dylan, the boy who comes between them. Their high-stakes pacts are spinning out of control. Elaborate lies become second nature. Loyalties and boundaries are blurred. And it all comes to a head at the infamous Afterparty, where debauchery rages and an intense, inescapable confrontation ends in a plummet from the rooftop...
This explosive, sexy, and harrowing follow-up to Ann Redisch Stampler's spectacular teen debut, Where It Began, reveals how those who know us best can hurt us most.
Afterparty is available NOW at these retailers, you can also check your local bookstore:

About Ann:

Ann Stampler was the mild mannered author of literary picture books when she broke out, tore off her tasteful string of pearls, and started writing edgy, contemporary young adult novels set in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and writer’s-helper rescue dog – without whose compelling distraction she would have no doubt penned dozens of novels by now.

Be sure to stop by and say hey to her at the following places:

And now Ann answer's a question we all know we've asked our selves:

Book you'd most like to rewrite the ending to:

Romeo and Juliet.  Sign me up for the sequel right now.  I realize that keeping them alive wrecks the aspiring truth and that by literary standards, my ending in which R&J survive and run off to Padua or Florence or some other scenic locale and kiss a lot would be completely dreadful, but I don’t really care.  Do. Not. Kill. Romeo. And. Juliet.

New Year, New Leaf

I want to start off by saying I'm sorry. I feel like I had more posts last year about my absence than I did have actual posts about books. It was a big year for me last year, starting with getting my first big kid job that involved a commute, a salary, outings and so many other things that are involved in a non-retail job. And then my uncle passed away while I was at BEA, and we road-tripped down to North Carolina and then up to New Hampshire for my boyfriends graduation. And then I moved! I went out and got my own place with my boyfriend and another couple. I think my biggest accomplishment of the year was when I won NaNoWriMo and got started on my novel. In December, I let my two year blogoversary pass by.

And now here I am, back at the start of the year with 40 reviews that I need to write because I read faster than I write and after having spent all day at working picking words to use, the last thing that I wanted to do was come home and pick more words to use.

This year promises to be just as exciting. In a few weeks, I'm heading to Philadelphia with my sister, Amy, Lexie and Tegan and Hannah to do ALAMW. February Hannah is going to visit again and we're going to do things in the city. In March I have tickets to a Jennifer Lynn Armentrout signing for White Hot Kiss. April is quiet for now but I'm sure it won't stay that way. May I have a signing for Samantha Shannon and BEA. Then I'm going to Vegas for ALA in June and I'm praying that the summer will be slow.

There are so many things that are happening that I am so excited about this year. In that excitement, I'm getting a new blog design and I can't wait to get it. Once I get it, I'm hoping that this will re-invigorate the blog and things will get back on track. My life will stop being an adjustment and it will start just being my life.

As a thank you, my loyal followers or even new followers. I have a giveaway that I have been dying to do for some time. I'm going to give away a signed ARC of Cress by Marissa Meyer. There are a few ways to enter and I hope you will enter and spread the love! We've had a big year and next year is going to be even bigger!
