The vampire wants the Word of Kemmler and all the power that comes with it - but first Harry has to determine what the Word of Kemmler is. Now Harry is in a race against time - and six necromancers - to find the Word before Chicago experiences a Halloween night to wake the dead.
I love Harry Dresden. It didn't top the last book in my opinion but it did hold up to my expectations and standards when it comes to the Dresden Files books. There is plenty of action and surprises that will keep you guessing right until the end. There are unexpected twists that will leave you literally saying "WHAT?!?".
Harry is still never able to find a calm moment of peace in his life but at least it makes for a good story. For all the Walking Dead fans, this book dealt with a bunch of zombies and end of the world zombie apocalypse stuff. You get to meet a new character, Butters, who is just adorable, in a polka-loving mortician kind of way.
I read this book as an audiobook with James Marsters narrating and I must say, James Marsters is the best person for Harry's voice. I love it so much that this is the first book series where I will only listen to audiobook version as opposed to reading them on my Kindle/book. James does a fabulous job with not only Harry's voice but voicing the other characters as well. I never have to think "Well which character is talking".
Overall, this was a great Dresden book. It gets 4.5/5 stars just because the last book topped this one in surprises (which I love) even though I think this book had far more action in it. I can't wait to read the rest and see what other shenanigans Harry gets into.
